Anti-Communist Movement

The Anti-Communist Movement and Freedom Defenders denounces the situation of uncertainty and fear faced by thousands of Cubans in the United States who entered the country with an I-220A — an Order of Release on Recognizance issued by immigration authorities at the border.

Unlike parole, the I-220A has not been recognized as an admission that opens the door to the Cuban Adjustment Act after one year in the country. The result is a legal limbo: Cubans who fled the regime’s repression now live with pending court dates, work permits tied to asylum applications, and the constant fear of being returned to the very dictatorship they escaped.

Our position is clear: no Cuban who fled political persecution should be sent back to the island while the communist regime remains in power. The repression that pushed them to leave — arbitrary detentions, surveillance, acts of repudiation and political imprisonment — is documented and ongoing.

The movement raises its voice for the I-220A community in our marches and public advocacy, and through our work documenting the Cuban reality. If your asylum case requires expert documentation of country conditions in Cuba, learn what we offer.
